The european project ECOLOGISITCS, co-funded by the Interreg IV-b « North West Europe », is currently organizing a series of exchange and site visit sessions to explore the potential and existant benefits of ICT for the logistics sector.
On Tuesday 14th April, a session was held in Calais under the theme “What ICT can bring to securization and fluidification of Trans-channel traffics at the port of Calais?”. The day was co-organized by Cap Calaisis (Calais territory representation) and innovation platform i-Fret (member of the Ecologistics consortium).
The morning was rhythmed by several interesting and very complementary presentations:
- Ecologistics project (Yves de Blic, Multitel)
- Calais – Territory of flows (Marc Legrand, Calais Développement)
- Research & works of LISIC lab (Mourad Bouneffa, LISIC/ULCO)
The presentations led to animated and rich discussions between all participants. This part of the day was held in the beautiful and practical setting of the Tom Souville sailing and sport base in Sangatte near Calais.
After lunch, Anthony Pétillon from the port of Calais Port Authority presented the port and its very specific security and flows problematics first in a conference room and then on site. The impact and importance of the security inspections of the freight units were shown close-by which made a lasting impression on all participants.
As conclusion can be said that the day was rich in experiences and discoveries, that new connections were made and new ideas discussed, between the very diverse participants.
Were present: Port of Calais, Cap Calaisis & Mairie de Calais, Nord Pas de Calais (regional representation in Brussels), ULCO University, Multitel, Ecole Centrale de Lille, GS1 France, i-Fret.
